Get fit for your sport

We reckon you should aim to spend 3 weeks training for the run – click here for advice

Would you like to have lightning feet? Be the fastest in your game? Being able to run can really help you excel at your sport as the following celebrity studies show:

  • In a typical match, Cristiano Ronaldo runs on average 10-11 kilometres at around 7km per hour, sprints for about 800-1200 metres, accelerates 40-60 different times, and changes direction every five seconds or so
  • Over two thirds of netball players such as Pamela Cookey run between 3-10 kilometres (depending on position) during a game
  • Rugby players like Danny Cipriani run a little bit less during their matches – but still average about 3 kilometres – so this run is perfect practice !
  • Female and male elite hockey players such as Jonty Clarke have very similar physiology (type of body and speed/strength etc) to Premier League football players – they therefore also run about 10-11 kilometres during their matches
  • Basketball players – they’re super fast of course, and also cover a lot of ground during a game – in fact Kobe Bryant and his team mates average around 7 kilometres per game
  • Finally – most boxers, like Amir Khan, run between 5-8 kilometres a day as part of their boxing training

Do you have any interesting facts and figures? How far do you run a day? Why not go to the Royal Parks Foundation Pulse3K group on Facebook and post your findings.

The race was great and I could find my time easily on the website the day after. The food festival was great. Great price for entry, really easy to register, good race info.
Many thanks for our fun race.
